Mr. Ivarsson has spent more than 45 years in the aerospace business.
In 1962 he was employed by the Royal Swedish Air Force Board, later the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. His main position was as deputy program manager aircraft JA 37 Viggen.
After his retirement from military from 1972 he has been with Saab. His positions at Saab include project director for aircraft JAS 39 Gripen, manager of the military aircraft business, head of military strategy and head of corporate strategy. Lately his emphasis has been on creating international aerospace alliances and programmes.
Mr. Ivarsson is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences.
Received the Thulin silver medal in 1993 for his work as project director of JAS 39 Gripen and in 2001 the Thulin gold medal for outstanding achievements in aeronautics and for the Swedish aerospace industry.
In 2003 he received the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences gold medal for his technical leadership in developing the JAS 39 Gripen and for his achievements to create industrial alliances.
