In order to ensure transition to jet aircraft and to be raised as jet instructors, eight Turkish pilots were sent to the United States of America on 16 October 1950 for training purposes. The team which consisted of Captain İbrahim TOZAN, Captain Cevat TUNA, Captain Tarık GÖKERİ, Captain Necdet HORASAN, Captain Oğuz BARUT, Lieutenant Lütfi GÜNDOĞDU and Lieutenant Ali TEKİN completed its training in May 1951. Two T-33A aircraft with Serial No’s 51-4058 and 51-4059 that were added to the inventory on 17 December 1951 were the first jet aircraft to be added to the Turkish Air Force inventory. The first jet combat aircraft, F-84 G aircraft, also started operating from 29 March 1952 onwards, at the 9th Main Jet Base Command where jet aircraft were first deployed.

In 1955, Air Force Academies started accepting female students for the first time and Second Lieutenant Leman ALTINÇEKİÇ (1957-10) became the first female Jet Aircraft Pilot and Second Lieutenant Şenay ÇİPER GÜNAY (1958-43) became the first female Jet Combat Pilot.
